I have a Voigtlander Bessamatic which seems to have jammed. I have taken the bottom plate off and found no release mechanism. Before I embark on a more serious strip-down I wonder if anyone has advice or guidance. Also does anyone have or know how to get a service/repair manual for this camera?

Cheers

The Bessamatic has a master shaft that runs fore/aft below the mirror box: when the shutter is cocked, you can reach the front end of it through the lens mount; when released, you can reach the back end through the film opening.Try dripping some lighter fluid onto the ends of this shaft and see if it begins to work.

I have a recently acquired Bessamatic which functions perfectly other than the fact that a black mask appears to have shifted horizontaly so that a thin black line appears vertically in the viewfinder.

How easy is it to access this and refit?
Thanks

In order to access the shutter, you need to remove the ring from inside the camera (accessed through the film gate). There is a good Bessamatic repair CD sold through eBay...
