I have a Ricoh "35" deluxe with this shutter. At the present The BULB function dosen't. It trips at about a 1/10th of a sec., all other speeds act normanlly. I don't see any broken springs or levers.

Does anyone have an idea what is or isn't happening to cause this.

TIA,
Dennis

My guess is that the "B" lever is sticking because it's dirty.

Hi!
my first post here.

Not sure what shutter is deployed on 35 deluxe...ah, it's MXL. Today I've found that on Seikosha MFX as on Five-One-Nine it's exactly what Rick says.

Little level should move towards charging "ring" though it's sticking and spring is rather weak. If lever is moved by toothpick, shutter stays open in B. Tried to clean it, but construction dictates that it should be really clean with minimum of friction.

Maybe it's wise to take out whole pallet and give it overnight naphtha spa.

I just realized that Five-One-Nine has MXL variety of Seikosha, same 35 Deluxe. At least french vintage camera site says so.

Harryrag, thanks for pointing to D. Mitchell's site. Inspired from it while working on Lynx 5000, and completely forgot to check it for Seikosha.

I just had a similar thing happen on a Seikosha-S (from a Mamiya C33 lens): The B setting would trip the shutter but not keep it open. The trick turned out to be that the cocking ring was not correctly mated with the gear that tensions the main spring. It was off by one tooth, and that was enough to mess up the B setting. On D. Mitchell's site there is a picture of the Seikosha shutter (see Harryrag's link above). The gear I am referring to is the one roughly in the 8pm position that is mated with the cocking ring.
