I was contacted off-list about the remote control socket on the FS-1, FC-1, FP-1 and FT-1 cameras. Here is a post with the information I have, for the benefit of others.
Legend:
S1 Release switch 1 input
S2 Release switch 2 input
ST Self timer switch input
G Ground (common)
F Aperture value output
Misc. notes and warnings:
The cable release has two switches, S1 and S2, just like the release button on the camera. S1 turns metering on, S2 starts the release cycle. The camera seems to expect the proper switch sequence (first S1, then S2). Just grounding S2 on its own does not trigger the shutter. Perhaps ST needs to be grounded as well? At least that's how my remote control cable is wired.
The F value output is a voltage that indicates the correct f stop according to the AE system:
Voltage f/
1.10 - 1.4
1.20 - 2
1.30 - 2.8
1.40 - 4
1.50 - 5.6
1.60 - 8
1.70 - 11
1.80 - 16
1.90 - 22
Late FT-1s ("MC" version) do not provide this output. The measuring system was revised and uses different voltages internally.
WARNING: The aperture value pin F is directly connected to the control ICs, which is probably not designed to provide much current. Accidentally shorting it to ground may cause permanent damage to the light metering system. |

Nice. Now what we all need is replacement battery holders for all of these things. |
