Hello everyone and thank you for the wealth of information on this site.
I am very new to camera repair (this was my first time ever opening up a camera) and the process has been a fun and frustrating one. Special thanks to Rick Oleson for all his shared knowledge.
I have recently acquired an old Ikoflex TLR where the self timer lever was not working. You could push the lever down and it would spring right back up to position. The camera worked just fine otherwise. I decided to take the plunge and see what was going on inside.
Taking apart the lens to get to the shutter was pretty easy- here is the photo of the offending self timer:

Then I had to disassemble the timer to find the problem:

The black, clutch gear was the problem- the "S" shaped spring is supposed to spin freely in one direction (when cocking the timer) and then catch on the slots in the wheel when the self timer is releasing- the tabs that catch the slots had broken off the "s" spring.
I separated the clutch and bent and filed the metal to make an arm that would catch:

I only filed one of the arms- so the timer does not always catch right away, sometimes the wheel has to rotate a few extra degrees before the arm finds a hole. This subtracts a few seconds from the timing.
I then put everything into the bath (one cleaning jar and two rinsing steps) and re-assembled:

I now have a working self timer in a camera that needs new covering (I ripped off the old covering to get into everything in this camera).
I guess the next step is to take out the shutter timing gears to do the CLA (I cleaned the shutter and aperture blades when I had everything open). Any advice on how to get these gears out? The timer just lifts out after removing the main spring but the shutter gears are screwed in somehow.
I have also found that using the free SoundStudio program that came with my Mac is great for testing shutter speeds.
