I have another A1 I'm working on. This one will need the mirror damper lubed but that I've done before. However, film winding is also rather tight, it feels like it needs a bit of lube too. Can this be done from the top? What are the lube points for the winding mechanism. Thanks for any help, Ed |

To properly lube the wind mechanism requires a full stripdown of the relevant parts. There are a number of small ball bearings associated with the main drive shaft and the bottom gearing, it is impossible to replace the grease in these areas without stripping out the shaft. You should note that a common sign of lack of lubrication or damage in the bottom section of the mechanism - is stiffness in the action. |

Well shoot. Seeing as how this is my fathers old camera, and thus has some value to me beyond just being an A1, I guess perhaps I'll have to take it over to my local pro type camera repair dude. Sounds like a good time for a CLA. Thanks Glenn |
