Hello all, I picked up winder for Ricoh (Motor3, specifically). Shooting series (3 and 5 shots) it often fails to "advance" and falls into "drill" which can be interrupted by switching off. Single shots are more consistent, though sometimes they also show same problem. Sound is like kind of clutch isn't engaging fully, I hope this gives some idea. While I've not opened it, wanted to ask if powerful winders rather wear out mechanically or electronics fail? Sure, no one can tell what's the problem is without opening and seeing - just wanted to read if there are common trends. |

Many of these units do not use mechanical limit switches, they use electronic circuits to detect differences between current draw of the motor in running and stalled states. No matter what type of electronics are fitted, there are enough mechanical 'bits' to wear/seize and cause problems also. I always clean and lube the mechanics first on winders that are not completely dead. If the unit still malfunctions you have problems, as there is not much you can do with the circuit boards except replace them. I only do this if the cosmetics of the dud are better than the spares donor. |

Thanks, I already had impression that this things are harder to get working than mechanical cameras. Pity they are so rare. |
