Anyone know how to build a shutter release cable for an Old Minolta XG-M? It has some sort of a screw in port on the side and I believe the release was nothing more than a button switch that you can hold down then let go. Creating a short I would imagine and then breaking the short when you release the button.

The hard part as far as I can see is finding something that will screw in or insert to the hole on the camera base.

I had an XG-M, and I just used a standard cable release. Minolta sold an electronic release cable, but it wasn't necessary. The manual even says you can use either (pg. 38):

Donnie, thanks. I have one electronic release and thought that's what it required. I didn't realize that this camera could go both ways. I'm setting up a kit for a friend and need a release for him. I'll just go shopping for a "standard" release" whatever that is. I'm sure they are easy to come buy.

By standard release I think he means the old mechanical cable the would screw into the shutter button or elsewhere on the camera body to trip the shutter release.
