Hello and good day! Any help is much appreciated!

I was recently experimenting with an old Minolta XG-M camera and not realizing that I had come to the end of my roll forced the winder to far. Now, it moves freely back and forth without advancing the roll, as if its been disconnected. As a fairly new photography student and certainly a beginner to camera repair, I was hoping that someone might be able to give me advice on whether or not this is fixable problem and if so, how I might I might go about restoring it to functionality. I scanned the forum looking for similar posts but could not find any; if this has been discussed before a point in the direction of that post would be lovely!

Thank you:-)

You might try removing the bottom cover and looking for damage. There is a long link in the bottom that is made of soft steel, if too much force is applied to the wind lever this can be torn up pretty badly - I have a photo of one in this condition in my notes. The wind system in the XGM is not very robust.
