Just picked up a pentax me super. The advance lever takes 3-4 full cranks before it cocks the shutter. Any help will be appreciated.

there's a rubber bumper on an axle here

that degrades, and then slows the movement of the lever... that lever locks the mirror spring. if the mirror spring doesn't lock, the wind lock doesn't work...
my ME super was worse. you'd wind it 50 times before it locked. go in there, remove the bumper. it's quite a bit of digging.

I had an ME Super that would take a few winding strokes before allowing the the shutter to fire (though it was properly cocking the shutter after the first). It was fixed by repairing the wind lock, as seen in this page:

and for anyone reading, all you have to to is bend the black lever as shown in the pic. Too much and the camera will lock up though.

Hey, Frankencamera: which pic were you referring to? Dragunov's or one of the ones on the pentaxmeproblems.html page? I have the same problem with a couple ME Supers.
