Has a Forum member any experience with disassembly of the Vivitar S-1 24 to 48mm zoom?
I picked it up very cheaply at a camera fair but it needs a major strip down. It is a question of knowing where to begin.

My Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm strips down from the front an back. Removing the inner name ring around the front element removes the front element and middle element (also unscrews) you can then remove the aperture mechanism, also from the front and access the rear element the same way. If memory serves, removing the front element also provides access to screws that retain the front barrel and through that, the stops for the outer focusing threads. I think...

Hope that is some helps. The front elements/retaining ring screw out and are held in place by the three screws on the outside of the widest part of the barrel. You'll either need to use something sticky or something pointy to unscrew the ring/elements (which remove as a unit).
