I have a Bell&Howell Filmo 57-st projector and the brushes in the motor are worn out. Where can I find replacements? |

I would try an appliance repair place first. The sort of place that repairs vacuum cleaners and sewing machines. They are likely to have sources for carbon brushes, and might be able either to duplicate them or to adapt other brushes to fit. |

I agree with the above reply. You can soon modify oversized brushes by rubbing them on a sheet of medium grade 'wet and dry'. Just remember to use the old springs from the projector with any modified brushes. The only other point worth mentioning - motor brushes can be manufactured from many grades of graphite, grades run from soft through hard and some types can contain metallic additives. The grade is not a problem in a low use motor; however, using a hard grade on a well worn commutator will produce sparking for a long time, as the brushes will probably never bed in properly. |
