I figured it would happen eventually.
I've been acquiring 35mm gear like a magpie lately and fianllay bought something that didn't work. Ricoh KR-10 Super, for $7 at a thrift store. I put a fresh set of batteries in the camera and triggered the shutter, the mirror stuck most of the way up, then completed the cycle after I rapped the camera smartly on the base plate. I cycled it a few more times and it seemed to be getting better until the last cycle-mirror stuck up, shutter partially opened, advance lever stuck and nothing budges the mirror or shutter. A search reveealed an old post concerning "mechanical reset" but didn't say what that entailed. So is this camera FUBAR or is there hope at all?

I have had dozens of these cameras that jammed up with the crumbled stop-material often found under the bottom plate (looks like old art-gum eraser pieces). Take bottom off and observe all areas for these pieces.......may solve your problem!
