How do I get the back open when the rewind knob has essentially fallen apart? A piece is now rattling in the camera body and I have a few small pieces from the top... any ideas?? |

I had a similar problem with a Nikkormat EL, the forerunner of the FE, the top had to come off in order to release the spring. But before doing that have a look under the base plate, the spring may be located there in the FE. |

is there an open hole where the shaft used to be? if so, reach in with a small crochet hook. feel around for something you can hook onto, about 1/2" below the top deck, on the side near the end of the camera. whenever you feel something, pull up on it... within your first 2 or 3 tries you'll pop it open. |
