This is my father in laws and at some point in the past the focus screen has been cleaned with something, i suspect, similar to nail polish remover etc. Its quite dim and smeared and focusing is a bit difficult in anything other than beaming bright sunlight!

Is it possible to remove and install another screen in the camera?

Is there any canon screnn that would fit in or would it be a 'chop down to fit whatever i can get hold of' job?

Any help appreciated!!

Ed

It is possible to replace the screen after removing the prism. Any screen off an A series model will probably do, but for the cost of a screen off a junker and the time involved you would be better advised to buy an AV-1 on ebay, they are very cheap.
