Hello All,

I have a Pentax K1000 that I got for cheap from a school district because they had no use for it. It had sat on a shelf for more than 10 years unused. When I started using it everything worked fine but after a while photos started being darker on one side of the frame then the other (right hand side of a printed picture). I am pretty sure the camera needs a cleaning, but was wondering if anybody knew of any issues like this that I should watch out for?

Thanks!

The shutter curtains are tapering - which means they're not running at the same speed so the exposure varies across the frame. Getting the camera serviced should sort it out.

There's a service manual at http://www.pentax-manuals.com/markroberts/k1000_man.pdf if you want to take a look.
