Hello all, I bought a Yashica Electro GT from a flea market but it has some shutter issues:it doesn't open! The self-timer doesn't work either(seems like its jammed, though with a bit of force it moves) so I'm guessing the two problems relate to each other(a similar issue is described in the Inside Yashica Electro page at mattdentonphoto.com) Anyway, I'm trying to get to the shutter via taking apart the front lens, but I've been cautious as I don't want to potentially harm the camera and I'm new to doing my own repair jobs. I've followed some reference pictures online but i haven't found any that document the whole process, and it seems i'm kind of stuck. The pictures show where I'm at so far, and the order which I've taken off each part. I've been trying to take out the inner ring in front of the lens. i've been using small screwdrivers as a spanner to try and unscrew it but it wont budge. Do I take out the silver ring around it first? It seems on pretty tight to and I don't really know how to take it off without using a bit of force. Thanks in advance to any help you can give me |

You can find a service manual at http://www.scribd.com/doc/19302555/Yashica-Electro-35-Service-Manual which should help. The ring needs to come off. It's held on by three screws. In your picture, it looks like one screw is still fitted. Remove the screw and it should come of easily. |

The photo isn't the best, are you talking about the bottom left screw? All the screws are off as far as I know. But at least I know where to start. Thanks for the service manual link, very handy! |

The repair manual shows the whole front lens removing as a whole, does anyone have experience with this? Should I put the other parts back together and try unscrewing it as a whole from the start? |
