My Minolta Maxxum 7 with cracked bottom plate right by where you put the batteries in. It looks like I can just remove that plate and replace it, or is there more to it? Thanks!

Have not worked on your specific camera, but the majority of bottom plates are there just to keep the dirt out/cosmetic reasons. However just in case the plate does retain a loose/free component, have the base of the camera pointing upwards before you remove the screws and the plate itself.

Thanks! Any idea where I can find a replacement part?

Depending on the crack and how much clearance there is inside, might it be possible to put it together with epoxy, perhaps with a little reinforcement inside?

Otherwise, I suspect you'll have to hunt down a donor camera, or find a repair place that can hunt one down.

Check out KEH.com periodically, in their "as-is" section, where they sell broken cameras, often for very small money. Occasionally Maxxums come up there with other malfunctions not worth fixing (for example the chronic aperture base plate failure on Maxxum 7000's that turns a great camera into a 5 dollar special) so you could get lucky and bag a 7 with a good bottom plate.
