I have an early model Chinon SLR. I believe it may be the first model. I can't find what type battery this camera takes for it's match-needle meter circuit. The battery is about the diameter of a 625 but appears to be thicker. A 625 does not work in it. Also, where is the light sensing element (cds ?) located? Oh, by the way, is Winfried still around? Last heard from in May 2003. Tom Miller

Mike Butkus has on his website a manual for the "Chinon SLR" which seems to be very similar to the "Chinon CS"
http://www.butkus.org/chinon/chinon/chinon_slr/chinon_slr-splash.htm
http://www.butkus.org/chinon/chinon/cs/cs-splash.htm
The manuals are also quite similar.
Unfortunately the manual does not state the battery type to be used.
In his Chinon replacement battery list the following batteries are mentioned:
http://www.butkus.org/chinon/chinon_batteries.htm
CS and CX II used PX13 Mercury batteries (625 size) while for the SLR PX625A are mentioned.

You will find the entries for CS at the bottom of the first table in the battery list and the SLR at the bottom of the second table.

I hope this is enough info for you to identify your camera and the battery needed.
