I have a Lynx 5000 which works fine except that the meter is non-responsive, always indicating somewhat underexposed. My multimeter tells me that the circuit is complete, and closes when the meter button is pressed, as it should. Am I right in presuming that the CDS cell probably is dead? Any guidance in finding one to replace it with? I have a junker Yashica Electro 35 of about the same vintage with a cell that works; would it likely be the same cell? Thanks for any suggestions.

There is a strip of resistor material inside the lens barrel in series with the CDS cell. Wipers attached to the aperture and speed setting controls vary the resistance. That resistor strip can get worn, or have dead spots, and the meter doesn't read correctly. I'd check that first before changing the CDS cell.

Also look carefully for corrosion on the wires and switch.

As far as I can tell, the CDS cells on various cameras of that vintage are the same.
