Hi, I recently got a YE 35 GSN for cheap, it worked for one roll of film. But now it seems something's gone wrong with the metering.
No matter what the lighting condition is, f/16 will always "under", f/1.7 will always be good, everything else is "over." Battery is new.
Any suggestions what I should look at first? |

What kind of battery do you use? I really have no idea what can cause this phenomenom but I once had some strange behavior which was battery induced and the 6V-battery was new too. |

new CR-123a with 2 LR44s.
I just opened her up and replaced the POD. I'm still having the same behavior. Oh and the shutter's only at one speed. My guess is 1/500. |

I tried using just 1 each CR-123a and LR44 in case it's a case of overvoltage. No dice.
I'll try cleaning the slider contacts next. |

The battery set should be ok. I made the experience that this is the best solution besides the original battery. It has enough capacity for the shutter's current peaks whereas a PX28 does not have it in all situations.
If the shutter has only 1/500 s it does not have power supply. Could it be that you experience the very rare case that the electrical path to the shutter is broken but the rest of the electronic works? I would search into this direction. I am not shure if a dead element, f. ex. a capacitor could cause this. |

One further note: I allways use a CR2 and two 625's
The 625 has more capacity than an LR44 (= A675) and it's diameter fits better. In this combination I did not take a CR123 because it was too long and it was difficult to impossible to close the battery compartment. The CR2 is shorter than the CR123 but more difficult to come by.
In your combination you could also try to replace the LR44s by cinc air 675s. These do not last very long (some weeks to months) but they are cheap and capable to high current peaks. For a shutter of this type the LR44 might be too weak. |

An update, I cleaned the shutter slider contacts, shutter mode contacts, aperture setting contacts hoping this would fix things. Granted the contacts were all foggy, they are now shiny.
However, my camera is still not metering right. Now, it's all always "over" on AUTO, it will show "slow" on bulb, and nothing on flash (but I think this is the proper behavior for flash).
As far as I can tell, none of the wires are severed.
I would try looking for 625s in the off chance that this will fix things. |

It's not the batteries. The Electro's meter is actually very tolerant of battery voltage.
