I just picked up another XG-9 this time with a beautiful 'old logo' blue and white Minolta neck strap. It's a bit dirty and 'crispy' if you know what I mean.

I would value any advice on how to clean, preserve this item

Cheers

James

Simply wash with a good detergent. The crispiness may be from old elastic in it if it has that as a substrate or loops to hold film cans. Nothing can fix that except replacement.
