I just got this Canon III rangefinder. Not being a real collector as such, I was wondering what condition this camera would fit into? Looks pretty darn good to me for an over 60 year old camera.
Opinions?

Cosmetically it looks good.

You are missing the tripod socket plate on the bottom.

Viewfinder should be bright with aligned rangefinder image.

Shutter curtains should look good with no holes.

Shutter speeds should be checked for accuracy, especially lower speeds.
There is an iPhone app than can check the speeds audibly.

Hmm, correction ... this model may just have a tripod socket hole and not something around it, so you can ignore my comment.

well it pretty much passes that inspection , shutter speeds not completely verified but they do sound to be about right.

Nice.

You just have to fix that lens.

Looks very fine to me. Now run some film through it.

I have a small demand to everyone posting more than one photo in one posting: Could you insert a line break or two between them so that they are aligned beneath each other and not side by side. I do have a wide screen but even on that I have to scroll left to right to see all the pics. Additionally if longer paragraphs (like that one) follow I have to scroll again to read them.
So kindly after uploading a picture hit the "Enter" key once ot twice before uploading the next one.
It's something I wanted to mention much earlier so Hi_country_flash it's not personal I just took the occasion to mention it.

As said - a very fine camera!

Best regards
Martin

I'm using Google Chrome. There was a similar comment on another thread but those images were also stacked on my screen.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I saw the other thread but only after I had posted my message.
I will try Google Chrome on a different system and I'm curious how it will work.
Best
Martin

Great looking camera, now get some film into it. I buy and sale some cameras, and the word mint can be rather broad.

Careful with the term "mint" unless between friends.

I have a few of the Canon Rangefinders IIIB, IIF, IVSB, 7. I guess I like them. I much prefer those models that don't have the ugly flash rail (such as yours). Very nice cameras and really just as nice as Leica's of the same era. Inside and out.

The images were in 1 row on my screen. Firefox. They are easier to see when arranged vertically.

Enjoy the Canon.
