Hi,
I just got myself a K1000 in excellent shape but it is missing the counter cover. Any suggestions?

Options:
a) buy one from a repair shop. Try the one in Carolina (I think it was on Campo Rico street) or, if he is still alive and the shop still open, Murphy Camera Repair on Fernandez Juncos. As a side note, Murphy used to have a few old cameras for sale.
b) Ask Pentax if they have one. Or National Camera Repair in Colorado.
c) Build one. Try a bottle cap from a Mylanta bottle or whatever fits. Melt three holes 120 degrees apart along the edge for the screws to go into. Cut a slot on top for the numbers to show through. Make a clear window from any pucker packaging that an item came packaged in. Paint black. With an ultra fine paintbrush, paint on the red triangle pointer arrow at the zero exposure position (open the back so the counter resets to zero first).

I need a counter dial cover also. Mine just recently fell off. :/ If anyone has one for cheap, I'd be grateful! |
