I just saw a listing on the famous auction site (the one that usually has items for sale at ridiculous high prices). "Leica M3 ? 35mm Rangefinder Film Camera Body Only for PARTS ONLY !!!" It might actually be an M2. I can't tell -- self timer isn't a good criterion. Ends in 4 days, but going for $88.00 right now. It'll probably sell for some insane amount and I'll wonder just who these people are that buy this stuff for many times actual value. Then again, maybe you'll get lucky and those people are all on vacation? |

Haha, I saw a Leica M3 internals (Just the chasis, shutter mechanism, Rangefinder assembly, and beat up top plate missing all the parts exterior) go for $350. I was looking and to replace it all it'll be another $400. the M3 assembly won't fit the M2. The M2 can interchange with the M4 though, I found one for $150 with a ctack but just can't afford it. |

Eskimogus, Were you going to try and convert an MD/MDa to M2? I saw that on another post. You know that MDa supposedly drips with collector value. Perhaps propose a trade on a Leicaphile forum: MDa for an M2. I can only imagine some collector will take you up on that. And then a MDa will remain such, for those who care about those things. |

Hey Hollen Well i have a Leica MD, Only 3000 were produced. I tried to trade a few people and they all backed out last minute. So i just have it here in parts (I can always put it back, Im keeping the Top plate). I tried to trade it, but just got fed up trying to trade someone. And it has a repair on the shutter curtain and 1/1000 doesn't fire. Usually leica collectors want it mint and new. It looks new, but it's not perfect mechanically. If you see someone, throw them my way. |
