Picked up a small mystery today. 35mm camera, roughly similar in size & design to a Boots Beirette. No mention in my McKeown's, & no joy on the web. The name 'Primo'is etched onto the top of the bulky lens mount. Film is loaded once the base of the body is detached, since the back does not open. On the lens is, Nedinsco - Venlo. I assume latter refers to the shutter which had 25-200 speeds. Anyone out there have an idea of the manufacturer? |

Hi James! It does sound familiar! A picture would confirm one way or t'other. Thank you, especially as I only bought it out of curiousity. Regards, Barnum |

I found the following: http://home.planet.nl/~hein.banken/Primo.htm Description both in Dutch and in English. From another source I read that Zeiss (Jena) founded Nedinsco (Nederlandse Instrumenten Companie) after WWI in the village of Venlo. The company still exists. http://www.nedinsco.com/ |

The old Nedinsco factory building, not used anymore, still exists in Venlo, a town in my neighbourhood. You can see some pictures of it here (and a short history) : http://www.flickr.com/groups/nedinsco/ They indeed made the Primo camera. btw The high tower visible on those pictures was used to test the submarine periscopes which they also build ! |
