I recently picked up an old camera off of craigslist. The previous owner had no information about it, but I was intrigued by the pictures, so I bought it. The camera has no logos or identification. On the front it has the words "Superior Flash" and "made in U.S.A." surrounding the main lens, as well as "120" above it. It looks very cheap, made of a thin metal such as tin. It is a 120 camera with viewfinders on the top and side, a shutter with "T" and "I" modes, and a winding knob which unlocks the film spool inside. There is no other writing anywhere on the camera. It looks like a very old Brownie, perhaps a cheap knockoff that someone did not want to take credit for?

Your camera looks identical to my Jem Jr. 120 except for the details of the design on the front plate. Mine doesn't have the flash synch connectors, but I believe later models did. The Jem is basically a tin box that sold originally for a dollar, but it makes rather nice photos. You'll find quite a bit of info and illustrations as well as a manual at Butkus if you google "Jem Jr. 120". |
