Hi, I found this Bushnell 28mm 1:2.8 wide angle lens at a local pawn shop for $10... nobody seemed to know anything about it. After trying to do some research about it, I have been unable to find any information about their camera lenses.

I know Bushnell makes great binoculars and rifle scopes. I have also been able to find a single picture on Flickr that specifies that this lens was used and the optics look fantastic!

From what I understand, Bushnell is an American company that was founded in 1948 by David P. Bushnell during his time in Allied occupied Japan.

The lens has an MC/MD bayonet mount on it that fits onto my Minolta SRT102. It is in absolutely PRISTINE condition as though it was tucked away somewhere and not been used much at all.

Upon examining the lens, the glass is very clean, no scratches, nothing. It looks as though the design may have been from the mid 70s and it is really a solid piece of metal built like a tank. Underneath it says "LENS MADE IN JAPAN".

Anybody have any insight on this lens? As far as the optics go it seems to be very sharp. Thanks!

Doubt it was actually made by Bushnell - Bushnell like other USA marketing brands probably bought lenses from supplier(s) in Japan just like Soligor & Vivitar amongst many others. I saw a similar Bushnell lens on eBay with M42 lens mount which would be handier on Pentax & Canon digital SLRs, a variety of M42 / PK / etc. film cameras. Although rather uncommon, price was higher than I wished (over $20).
