Hello,

Work, family and life are interfering with my hobbies so no real tinkering with old cameras in a while.
But I did get this monster in a box as a freebee. Parts were loose and some broken but it was complete.
So I put it together and gave it a good clean up.

This is how I got it, but after dusting it off a bit.

And this is it after some TLC.

It has a tripod socket but it better be a good tripod to hold this monster

If someone tells you a metal SLR is big and heavy, show them this pic. This monster is about 4-5 pounds!

All freshend up and nowhere to go. Film for this camera was discontinued over 20 years ago and it is not really that great to start with anyways.
Just another one for the museum....

Thanks,
Ismael

Hi, Ismael, it is good to know that in this forum with so much different folk, and a recently growing number of immoderate wisenheimers, there are still people like you in our midst keeping this forum alive and going in the right direction. I especially like your attitude towards tinkering ("All freshend up and nowhere to go") and have enjoyed the picture gallery a lot. I also have several items in my ragbag collection that are of no practical use any longer like your monster Polaroid, but nice items to preserve, just for the fun of it, H.

Your comments make me wonder whether I'm on your list of "immoderate wiseheimers" or not (but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it). Still, I agree completely with your sentiments about the virtue of repairing and preserving old photographic equipment for its own sake. I have a bunch of old cameras with basically zero commercial value that I nonetheless have invested a lot of time and energy in, simply because they are objects I consider worth restoring, and yes, "just for the fun of it".

Great job restoring an old camera.
I was given a 1969 polaroid land camera by a co-worker. It had sat in her garage for over 30 years but worked great once I put a battery in it. It's great to see something like this wake up from its long slumber.

Your name sounds familiar. You wouldn't happen to be the same Ismael Gonzalez that also builds model cars would you? that's my other hobby.

Thanks Donyet,

Welcome aboard! Yes, that's me. I can't hide :-) Scale models and photography compete for the very little spare time I have.

Regards,
Ismael
