I've done very minor repairs on cameras before but I just got this old beat up Ansco super memar at an antique shop for a few bucks and can't figure it out. I think something is wrong with the shutter but I cant get inside to check it out. I got the top off but that's as far as I got. Any suggestions? |

I don't have notes on the shutter - can't you unscrew the lens from the front? |

I unscrewed the very front of it (just needed a little gusto)... the actual front lens, but the aperture and shutter speed and feet rings are still there. I dont see any screws or release buttons to get the whole thing off. Do you think a manual would have it? |

Normally there is something that was covered up by the front lens cell: usually it's a retaining ring around the central lens barrel, with a serrated edge that is secured by either a screw or a D-shaped cam that engages one of the serrations in the edge of the ring. You didn't find anything like that under the lens?

Awesome! Thanks. I did pop off the ring under the front lens. It's more complicated in there than I expected but I'm getting it. Thanks for your help. |
