I have a Pentax ME-F, that won't turn itself off.

There is no problem with the shutter button switch.

Any ideas?

You're not alone Gordon. I had an ME-F with the same problem. Are you using the AF lens (specifically, the only lens made for the ME-F which is a huge 35-70mm F3.5. takes 4 AAA cells - has an on/off switch) with this camera? If so try taking the AF lens off the body. Mine used to switch off normally without the AF lens. I believed the problem to be moisture in the 5 or 6 gold contacts in the AF lens. Tried stripping & drying the contacts with only moderaste success. Good luck
