Hi

Today I picked up a black Minolta Hi-Matic F in a thrift store. I put hearing aid batteries in (camera originally takes 2 px640's) and it works. Everything seems to work fine (rangefinder, flash sync) except for the following:

In long exposures (more than 1 sec) I need to keep the shutter release button pressed for the entire exposure. If I release the shutter and pull my finger off right away the shutter closes instantly. Is this supposed to be this way or is my camera not functioning right? Does anybody know a fix for this?

And how would you rate the 38/2.7 rokkor lens on this camera?

Thanks,

Berk

It is a nice camera, actually. The lens is good.

As for the long shutter times, I think you do have to keep your finger down. I have one, but I need to get new batteries for it. If you need re-sealing instructions, please look to your left under "Camera Articles." You'll see most of the re-sealing instructions I've written, and there is a set for the Hi-Matic F there.

Thanks Jon. I will re-seal the camera with the kit I got from you a few months ago.

I found this black Hi-Matic F in a thrift shop for under $5. I cannot see any scratches or dents on camera, it just needs a good cleaning and re-sealing.
