The rangefinder of my Oly 35 RD doesn't couple anymore. For a while it coupled occasionally but now, nothing happens when I turn the focusing ring. Do you have any suggestions of where I should start to look in the camera and, in particular, how I get there - by removing the front lens, etc. |

You should remove the top cover (attention, the self timer lever screw is left handed - to unscrew it turn it clock wise). Then you should remove the rangefinder assembly block which is held to the main body by some rather big screws on its bottom plate. In some cases the levers underneath the rangefinders get stuck. Try to remove old grease with lighter fluid and relubricate with droplets of gun or watch oil. Also, check whether the coupling shaft (a round bar protruding backwards from the lens barrel) is stuck. When re-attaching the rangefinder assembly take care that the coupling shaft meets the levers in the right place. |
