I picked up this camera in a box of as-is cameras. Someone had taken the rewind crank off. It sounds like the rest of the assembly is in side the camera but I need to open the back.

Anyone have any tricks of the trade to pop the latch on the back when the rewind shaft is out?

Use a crochet hook and just do it by feel - easy.

On most L-series Prakticas, you can get to the bottom end of the latch plate by removing the bottom cover of the camera (just a few screws, but don't lose the rewind release button). With the bottom off, just push up on the tab on the left side of the camera.

Thanks for the info. If I had just taken the bottom plate off first, the solution would have been obvious in the first place.
