Hoping someone has some advice on this. I bought a Canon FT-b on e-bay and the light meter doesn't seem to work. I put in a fresh battery but still the needle does not respond to any changes in light intensity. Anyone else ever come across this problem? Any suggestions? Gerard Curley

Does the battery check function move the needle? Assuming that it does not, the problem could be due to:- a/ bad wiring, dirty contacts. b/ faulty switch. c/ stuck galvo needle.

The most common problem I have found is a stuck galvo needle. You will have to remove the top and make sure needle is free. You can check the wiring at the same time.

Glenn: I cleaned the contacts and it works like a charm. Don't know why I didn't think of cleaning it in the first place. Obviously putting new batteries in and cursing like a sailor wasn't working. Thanks for the advice. Gerard

Gerard,

Glad it was the simplest solution!

Glenn.
