I need the camera's spool that the film collects onto. (Mine is broke.) Any ideas on where I may find one of these? Is replacing this item difficult?

Also the film release button on the autowinder is REAL hard to engage. What should I look into to correct this?

Hi Rex, I am a camera repairman and specialize in the repair of Canon 35mm cameras and lenses. I have the part you need, I understand you need the spool, not the sprocket? Either one requires the mirror box and shutter unit to be removed to replace these parts. I do not recommend you try this. This is one of the worst jobs on the Canon A1 camera. I charge $125.00 to do this job. This repair includes cleaning, lubricating and recalibrating the speeds and metering systems. This also includes replacing the light shields and mirror cushion as needed. I give a six month warranty with my work and can turn the repair around in about one week. Let me know if interested.
