Hi I recently picked up a compact Vivitar 80-150 zoom lens cheap in a bargain bin at a local camera store. The lens has a stain on the inside on the front element. The stain itself looks like oil (see link). I feared it might be between lens elements but I can see droplets looking in through the back, so that seems unlikely. http://www.webwright.ca/photos/viv80-150.htm I want to get the element out to take alook at it. Unfortunately, the front plastic ring (bezel?) is stuck. A large rubber stopper which ussually works really well at removing these things won't budge it. There are three small screws set back about a centimetre from the front of the lens barrel. I tried loosening these, to no avail. I drilled a couple of small holes in the ring and tried to remove it with a lens spanner, but no go. At this point, I have applied some WD-40 to the threads, and am waiting for it to penetrate. Am I missing something that needs to be done before the ring - and hopefully, the front element - will come out? |
