Dropped my camera 2 ft, onto concrete. landed on the zoom, and pushed it in so it couldnt retract on its own. We got that straightened, but now the camera only takes pictures if it is facing upward. even then they are dark & blurry. Also the shutter shows on the corners. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it, how to fix it on my own, or about how much it will cost? I would rather not get a new camera, but this is 3 yr. old, and I dont feel like spending a fortune to repair. Anyone?

I think it very likely that there's little you can do yourself without access to more facilities than the average tinkerer, this being an electronic/digital camera, and a repair job would probably cost more than these models are fetching on Ebay.

(It's a nice little camera as digital cameras go, but it's not yet made the status of a Classic Camera!)

Find your local Canon Repair Centre in Yellow Pages or some such organ, however it would be more sensible to get a replacement. Repair/service will probably cost more than a good working camera off eBay.

Send it to:

Canon LTD.
30-2, Shimomaruko 3-chome,
Ohta-ku, Tokyo 146-8501, Japan

Explain what happened, they'll most likely repair and/or replace it for free and reimburse your mailing costs.

Richard, stop being silly. Giving false information to people, even though they are blatant abusers of this forums scope, isn't funny. You are giving us who are sincere in out desire to help a bad reputation.

Yes. Too naughty isn't it?

My impish impulses will remain "reigned" in, henceforth.
