I have recently acquired a Bessamatic, as far as I can judge in good condition. Have found user manual on the net, but there is still one knob unexplained: to the left of eyepiece as seen from behind, circular flat knob, diameter 6,8 mm. Can't move it with reasonable force (is it supposed to?) Various photos on the net show Bessamatics with (http://www.photoethnography.com/ClassicCameras/index-frameset.html?VoigtlanderBe ssamatic.html~mainFrame) and without (http://www.ncad.co.jp/~komata/bessamatic.htm) this knob.
Can anyone on this forum enlighten me?

Possibly just a cover screw for an adjustment pot behind it?

I agree with Jan. Sounds like a cover for light meter adjustment. I have same on a Zeiss Contina.
Richard.

If you look at the first picture on the second site noted in Lars' post, I think all will be revealed. Suspect it is a cover over a screw that adjusts zero by physically moving the galvo, or for some other meter adjustment as Richard states
