Hi Bill:

You mean that the shutter runs and makes an exposure, but it runs at the same speed at all manual speeds and at AUTO? Do you have an idea of what speed you have on the manual settings? (You can't check AUTO very well on an OM2 because it needs film in it to give a correct speed)

I have some information about adjusting speeds on the OM2, but to have both manual and AUTO behave like this sounds like sometihing pretty serious is wrong.

hi, yes it runs at the same speed in manual mode has auto, i do know om-1 very well & i can set these up, but om-2 have a lot more electonics in them, i think it is elecrical & not a mechs problem, bill

Do you know what speed it gives you?

i didn't find a whole lot.... it looks like the shutter speeds are established by resistors, with the lowest resistance being at 1/1000 second. if there is a short across the resistor board, it looks like that could make the shutter run at 1/1000 all the time. like you, i'm much more at home with the OM1 (and other mechanical cameras) than electronic marvels like the OM2. i don't see anything in the troubleshooting guide that refers to the shutter running at 1000 regardless of setting on both manual and auto, and the manual isn't all that user friendly if your problem doesn't exactly match their expectations....
