I'm trying to remove the front lens element, any clues please?

Easy! the black cone on the inside of the lens unscrews, use a suitable friction tool. Remove it and underneath you'll find three tiny screws.....now you are on your own....

Thanks Chris. I guessed that cone might need removing but it is so tight I wasn't sure. I'll probably have to end up drilling a couple of tiny holes so as to use a tool to release it.
