Hey, I'm new here. I just fixed my pentax ME today after it being broken for about 8 months. Now i'm turning to the yashica, hoping for a good day if I can fix it. The problem is the shutter. Once you push the shutter button you can see the shutter curtains open up but they close verrrry slowly. I searched the forums in this section but didn't find anything helpful. And help? Thanks.

The shutter needs cleaning. To get to it, you have to remove the front fascia panel from the camera, which involves removing the front leatherette to get to the screws. Yashica leatherette is brittle, so plan on having to replace it... there are sources for leather and leatherette, but I don't know if you'll find precut pieces.

Once inside, the shutter is a typical leaf type. There is a general discussion of servicing these here: http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-55.html and there are others on the web as well.

Thanks a lot for that link. I don't think I'd be that bothered if I can't get the leather back on. I just really want it to work. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
