Hi all. What’s the special tool and or home made item that removes (unscrews) the retaining ring on the front of my 50mm 1.8 Nikon.
All the best.
Scott.

i have a set of short pieces of PVC pipe to which I have glued rubber to the edge on one end. I choose a suitable size for whichever lens I'm looking at, press firmly and twist. Even more effective than rubber is that double-sided foam adhesive tape stuff... it sticks to both the lens ring and the PVC pipe so you don't have to press so hard to get a grip. There are also rubber crutch tips in some very handy sizes, and micro-tools sells rubber tools for the purpose.
