I was wondering if a list stating which parts are interchangeable between M series Pentax (MEs, MX, MVs, MG, Super Program, etc...) exists. Or if all we can do is check the exploded views and see if a given part is the same for two given cameras.
To be more specific, I have just bought on the eBay a busted Super A (Super Program in the USA) and would like to resurrect it using a spare, but perfectly working MG.

Ben, new to this forum.

I'm afraid those two have very little in common - the MG being the last introduction of the family before the Super A. Different lens mount, different shutter version (the release on the MG is mechanical, it's all electronic on the Super A)... different everything, pretty much. The back from one will fit the other, as should the rewind knob (maybe the baseplate, probably the leverwind and battery chamber cap), but that's about it I think. I daresay there must be the occasional small component within that's unchanged, but very few, I suspect, even though the Super A has an evolution of the M-series chassis. In the M-series itself, even the eyepieces are different (on the inside!) for each model, since they mounted the meter cell(s) on them, and each meter was a bit different.

Thanks, when I get the busted Super A I will know what is wrong. BTW: the MG is pretty simple but is a nice camera: all in all I have used my ME Super for ages almost always in automatic mode.

It was not busted. Only the rewind knob is missing, it seems to be the same on the ME Super. Am I correct?

Ben
