I need a replacement stop-down lever for a Nikon FM, and I would like to know if the equivalent Nikon replacement part for the FM3a (presumably still available) would fit.

Come to think of it, it would be a good idea to compile a table of available Nikon spare parts that will fit vintage Nikons. Is there any sentiment in this group for undertaking such a project?

I'm fairly certain that the lever won't fit. Using another FM or FE for external pieces would be easier. Cameras like the FM/FE/FM2/FE2/FA used several similar parts. Levers, knobs and battery caps as well as some internal bits were identical.

It is unlikely that any current replacement parts from Nikon will fit older cameras. Most of the older systems were using a lot more metal rather than plastics.
