Can I put a rear lens element of an old Tessar lens with its metal housing in the oven to eleminate separation. The element is installed in the metal housing by burnishing the metal. I cannot get it out without major surgery. Would the different thermal coefficients of glass and metal not put an excessive stress and crack the glass? However, I think that the coefficient of thermal expansion of metal would be more than the glass, therefore, metal will expand more than glass wthout any harm to glass, but I am not sure. Can some one help me. Thanks.
