Hi

I'm a complete novice on this kind of thing.

I have just been given the above camera that seems to be in mint condition. However at shutter speeds of 1/30 and 1/15 only (lower shutter speeds are fine)there is a loose spring sound for a brief period of time rather like the sound of a winder on an automatic watch as it is being wound up.

Any ideas would be appriciated.

I'm not going to swear that this is the sound they're supposed to make but I have a Spotmatic, a K1000 and a KM all in great shape and that's the sound that 1/30 and 1/15 make. Something like a little pendulum rocking back and forth after the shutter closes.

Your description is exactly as it is. So I feel more comfortable with the situation now.

If anyone else can add to this it again would be very much apppriciated.

I have a Spotmatic.
Yep, the timer cogs keep making noise a short while after the mirror has returned. Only at 30 and 15.
The spring has some more unwinding to do after the mirror release has been tripped I suppose.

I just fired my Spotmatic and yes I hear a small pendulum inside tick tick tick only at those speeds. I kinda like it, never really noticed it before.
