I have an OM10 Zuiko 50mm 1.8 lens with an iris that sticks closed following shutter release. I have removed the base plate and lightly lubricated the mechanism visible, but the problem seems to lie with the iris mechanism itself. The release lever seems a little sticky and will not return on its own.
Can anyone advise how to access the diaphragm please? |

Hello David.
To acess the diaphragm blades,
First remove the plastic name ring on the front of the lens.
Next remove 3 screws behind it.
Next remove filter holder complete lens assembly.
Watch out for the spring and ball for aperture clicks.
Now you see a plastic disc held with 3 screws.
Remove these screws and disc and you can remove the blades and operating ring.
they must all be cleaned and refitted.
Make careful notes as you go along so you will understand the re-assembly.
Last go back to where you added lubricant and clean all this out as this is what causes the problem in the first place.

David,
If you have the version that says "Japan" (not "Made in Japan", or "F. Zuiko", etc.)then the problem is very likely in the rings you lubricated in the back of the lens. If there is no oil visible on the aperture blades, first try cleaning the rings in the back of the lens. See:
