Forgive this newbie if I'm posting improperly. I've gotten a Five Star 75-200 Zoom lens (Nikon FM10 mount) basically for free. I'm not certain of the age, but it obviously isn't new. The focusing and apeture seem fine - but the barrel "slides" when the lens is vertical. I've never had a lens apart before - but this seems like a good one to learn on. Is there an easy (?) method for tightening up the sliding barrel?

Thanks!

This is actually very common, even on some very pricey lenses. In fact the pricey, which is another way of saying heavy, lenses often have worse creep. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it.

Often the felt under the telescoping housing can be replaced. This can get involved. What some folk do is put a strip of black electrical tape lengthwise down the barrel so the outer housing slides over it, producing friction. And a few have found an appropriately sized wide rubberband that they stretch over the junction of the outer housing and barrel, also to increase friction.

But, as for me, I use the lens and just not let the creep bother me.
