Depending on what may be the problem with that ME Super, you might be able to troubleshoot it yourself. After many years this model may have a some tendency to jam. I have freed up the jammed wind mechanism on 2 of these by removing the bottom plate and gently tweaking a particular lever with a dental pick. That was all it took. Of course your particular ME Super may have other problems. Cosmetic cleaning is straight forward other than being careful not to improperly clean the mirror. Seals are easy to replace (Jon Goodman has those on eBay). Cost of a profesional CLA? Probably $100 to $150. Best source? Might try Essex. Maybe Mark Hama if he is not too busy (??). $100 - $150 is a bit more than that camera's value. These are common on eBay if you can be assured of getting a clean working body for maybe $85; a bit more with lens. A dealer or independent party may also have one to sell at a reasonably low price. I've sold several in recent months; our local high school kids use them in their photo class.

Hi,
Which country are you in? I can suply a good address for someone in the UK who charges about £40. In the USA, there's a guy called Eric who is a Pentax specialist, has a great reputation and is resonably priced. If you need his address drop me a line and I will send it.

How easy is it to remove the focus screen in an ME super there appears to be dirt under this. Can I take out the mirror and focus screen with out a complete strip down of the body.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a replacement battery cover for my Pentax ME Super. And also, does the Pentax LX battery cover work with the ME Super?

Ken:

If you remove the lens and look on the top 1/2 mooned shape above the fresnel lens you will see a piece of black tape "round" if you remove it you can spray some air into it and blow the dirt out through the display hole in the viewfinder housing. Then just replace the tape.
