Hi all, i want to remove the top covers of a Canon F-1 (the later version of the original F-1). In order to do this I obviously have to remove the shutter speed dial. I have downloaded the repair manual, and from the drawing's I get the impression that the screw, holding the dial in place, is covered by a 'leather'. However, the central cap (I would not call it a 'leather', since it's solid metal of some kind) on the dial on my F-1 is firmly locked in place. I can't get it off, espacially since the cap is quite small and difficult to grip. Is it a matter of applying more force? Is it glued in place? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Bart |

It is cemented in place-a drop or two of lacquer thinner, acetone, etc should loosen it. You may have to take a small screwdriver and gently pry up at the edge. I sometimes use a pair pliers with a circular cut out to grip and lift/twist. |
